
Coronavirus in Italy: Government restrictions
Executive Order 9 March 2020
The Italian Government just issued an Executive Order with new rules and restrictions to limit the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The measures apply to the entire country.
Here is the full content of the 8 March 2020 executive order, now extended to all of Italy.
On this page we provide an English summary of the parts of the law that might be of interest for foreigners and people who live overseas who have interests in Italy.
Measures regarding the entire country of Italy:
1) Travel only if strictly necessary (justified needs such as business or medical reasons; grocery shop close to home only);
7) If you arrived in Italy in the 14-day period before 8 March 2020 after being in one of the countries qualified by the World Health Organization as under Covid-19 epidemic risk, contact the Italian local medical authorities. The local medical authorities shall test and monitor you as per the specific applicable medical protocols. You shall be quarantined for 14 days (no social interactions or travels) and shall remain available for daily monitoring purposes;
8) If you are quarantined/monitored and develop the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) symptoms, immediately advise your family doctor, put on the surgical face mask that was given to you at the beginning of the quarantine, stay away from the people living with you and stay in your closed bedroom (allow fresh air from outside);
9) All gatherings, demonstrations or groups of people are forbidden;
