Even though I speak Italian, I really appreciated being able to speak to a legal expert in English to better understand my situation, and forms particular issue being able to speak to another woman was particularly valuable. You don't always know if you can trust a company you find online, but I'd recommend this one without a doubt.

It was very informative and helpful. My wife (USA) and I (USA/Ireland) are relocating to Italy. Mr. Metta was very knowledgeable on the tax implications of receiving a US-based retirement income while being a tax resident of Italy. He also provided practical information on tax filing procedures in Italy, easing the bureaucratic integration process for my wife, and even brought up estate planning issues for cross-national families. (I hadn't thought of that before.) It was such a great meeting. He took the opportunity to educate and help us. In no way did I feel like I was being "up sold" or pushed to sign up for a "pre-packaged" plan. I came away with a great deal of helpful, practical information and tips. I very much look forward to working with him in the future.

In my case, requesting an Italian codice fiscale through the usual consular channels in Brazil had become practically unworkable. The Fast It option was not available in my account, and the consular service was extremely difficult to access, with no effective response to my requests. Studio Legale Metta provided a clear and efficient alternative, and my Italian tax code certificate was obtained within the selected timeframe. For anyone abroad facing an overwhelmed or unresponsive consular system, I am glad this option exists and I would definitely recommend their service.

We are renting an apartment in Italy and didn't apply for a codice fiscale while we were there. Our real estate agent is unfamiliar with the process of applying for us as a proxy, so we turned to this firm. Their website does a great job of walking you through the process. It auto-fills the necessary forms, and then a real human being reviews them and writes directly back to you. We ended up receiving our tax numbers early within the promised time frame, which was certainly welcome. For those who absolutely have to have their numbers within a very short time frame, they offer expedited service (for a higher fee, of course). The bottom line is that I strongly recommend this firm. We could not have asked for better service, and they delivered exactly as they promised.

However, after paying for 2 calls, and then for the renewal service, I had a terrible experience. My emails were regularly ignored for weeks, if not months at a time. The issue of the renewal was taken care of at the last minute, with almost zero communication with the attorney's assigned to my case. In this case, there were two attorney's I was told would assist me, and I never ever heard from the second, and only from the first after repeated attempts at communication. While the issue was taken care of, eventually, I cannot recommend this firm. They clearly ignored my attempts at communication until the last minute, lacked transparency, and never followed up as originally agreed. When my new permesso was ready, I never got any communication from them and had to end up managing the remainder of the process myself.

My first interaction with them was during the purchase of a house in Italy, where their support proved decisive to the success of the transaction. I had bought property several times while living in the UK without needing legal assistance, but the process in Italy is more complex and full of potential pitfalls. Professional guidance was essential. After moving to Italy, I asked SLM to assist with obtaining my Italian residence. In theory, this should have been a straightforward procedure since I am also a citizen of an EU country (not the UK). However, because timing was critical in order to secure the necessary documents before the end of the calendar and financial year, I chose to rely on SLM’s expertise and this did indeed help get the results on time. Most recently, they supported my wife and me through the Italian citizenship application process. Although the procedure is reasonably well documented online and my Italian is now strong enough to navigate it independently, experience has taught me that legal and administrative matters in Italy are rarely simple. Our first meeting with Antonio Cammarano was extremely helpful: he explained the entire process and outlined exactly what we needed to do. He followed up with detailed meeting notes that left no room for misunderstanding. We then worked closely with his colleague, Douglas Berti D’Agostini, who was our main point of contact. We exchanged many emails regarding the various steps to complete. Douglas was consistently helpful, quick to respond, and precise in explaining where to obtain documents and how long each stage would take. We managed everything remotely via email and a single interactive WhatsApp session. Douglas submitted our applications on our behalf. A week later, mine was initially rejected due to an error on the part of the authorities, while my wife’s—despite being an identical case—was accepted. Different clerks, different interpretations of the law. Douglas immediately intervened, clarified the mistake with the authorities, and my application has now been accepted as well. (To be clear, this refers to the acceptance of the application, not the granting of citizenship itself, which is a longer process.) This long account is meant to highlight that, although I am generally competent with administrative and legal matters, comfortable with online procedures, and confident in my Italian, SLM’s support made a significant difference. Their assistance was well worth the cost. I warmly recommend them.

Even though we should have contacted SLM prior to contracting on the property, the firm was very helpful to us in a long journey through the Italian court system. I had previously attempted to complete the transaction myself but did not have any idea of the complexity of the requirements to transfer the property from my Dad to me. I used the google search to locate an attorney in Italy to assist me with the transaction. Purtroppo nel corso della procedura di successione, il coerede e' mancato, pertanto e' stato necessario riprendere la procedura dall'inizio con problematiche molto piu' complesse.
