Also, there are ways to earn Italian citizenship even if your ascendant (parent, grandparent, great-grandparent) naturalized before the birth of the next descendant in your line of kin.

• have been a resident of Italy;
• were born in Italy;
• had the Italian citizenship and lost it.

Italian Citizenship by Descent (iure sanguinis)

Through Italian Consulate (timing approximately 2-4 years)

1. Direct consultation with Client to review Client’s personal needs and expectations;

3. Apply for and obtain Client’s ancestors’ certificates in Italy (released by Italian offices);
4. Provide information and legal advice regarding applicable rules and regulations;
5. Italian translations of English documents and validation in Court under oath;
6. Assistance and advice re preparation of citizenship applications as well as other required documents;
7. Post filing consultation and assistance for possible follow up questions.

Average Fee Range €1,350 to €3,980 + taxes (4% or 26.88%)

Through Italian Comune (timing approximately 6-10 months)

1. Direct consultation with Client to review Client’s personal needs and expectations;
2. Advise Client re residency application requirements;
3. Advise Client re citizenship application requirements;
4. Apply for and obtain Client’s ancestors’ certificates in Italy (released by Italian offices);
5. Provide information and legal advice regarding applicable rules and regulations;
6. Legal advice and assistance with respect to the preparation of Italian residency application;
7. Review, advice and assistance regarding financial requirements;
8. Legal assistance to obtain a health insurance (health insurance policy, if required, is not included);
9. Legal assistance with respect to filing the residency application with Italian Municipality on behalf of Client;
10. Apply and obtain residency application certificate;
11. Assistance and advice re preparation of citizenship applications as well as other required documents (Client procures required documents);
12. Italian translations of English documents and validation in Court under oath;
13. Assistance filing Italian citizenship application;
14. Post filing consultation and assistance for possible follow up questions.

Average Fee Range from €1,350 to €4,700 + taxes (4% or 26.88%)

Average Fee Range from €1,350 to €4,500 + taxes (4% or 26.88%)

Regain (Lost) Italian Citizenship

1. Direct consultation with Client to review Client’s personal needs and expectations;
2. Advise Client re citizenship application requirements;
3. Provide information and legal advice regarding applicable rules and regulations;
4. Assistance and advice re preparation of citizenship application as well as other required document (Client procures required documents);
5. Italian translations of English documents and validation in Court under oath;
6. Assistance filing Italian citizenship application;
7. Post filing consultation and assistance for possible follow up questions.

Average Fee Range from €1,350 to €3,880 + taxes (4% or 26.88%)

Italian Citizenship through the Court (1948 Case)

1. Direct consultation with Client to review Client’s personal needs and expectations;
2. Advise Client re citizenship application/appeal requirements;
3. Apply for and obtain Client’s ancestors’ certificates in Italy (released by Italian offices);
4. Provide information and legal advice regarding applicable rules and regulations;
5. Legal advice and assistance with respect to the preparation of Italian citizenship appeal;
6. Prepare Power of Attorney PoA for SLM represent Client before the Italian Court, translate the PoA and validate the translation through the
7. Italian Court (duty stamp costs not included – approximately EUR 16 or 32 per PoA);
8. Provide Client with updates on the appeal status;
9. Draft Court appeal,
10. Settle Court taxes on behalf of Client (court taxes of approximately EUR 550 – are not included in SLM fees),
11. File Court appeal along with vital record certificates and Italian translation as required for citizenship appeal purposes;
12. Telephone consultations and email correspondence with Client throughout the process.

Average Fee: EUR 5,980 + taxes (4% or 26.88%) and disbursements (e.g., duty stamps, Court taxes). This refers to one applicant. Additional applicants in the same family incur a fee that is less, depending on a number of factors.
