After much foot dragging, I recently booked a phone conference with Nick Metta to learn about estate planning and powers of attorney in Italy. We arrived in Italy in 2020 and like most people, I stalled on putting will updates on my action list. I was aware of Studio Legale Metta from the internet and trusted Facebook groups, and had consulted them about a relative’s immigration questions last year. So they were my first choice when I finally decided to get started. Their website is clear and describes their services and their staff/partners’ specialties well.
Their online consultation booking is easy. I chose the appropriate specialist, the “review documents in advance” option, picked a date and time, and supplied payment information. They sent me several confirmation and reminder notices, I uploaded my home country wills for review and formulated my questions.
Nick Metta was on-time to our Zoom meeting and had read the material I sent. We jumped right into the conversation (in English.) He listened carefully to my questions and addressed them specifically. I found our meeting very focused and informative. We both took notes during the meeting, and he sent me a complete and accurate summary with recommended action points promptly after the meeting. The notes were very helpful.
I now have a clear understanding of how to get this work done properly. In addition, he was clear that in Italy, I need a notaio to do the work, not a lawyer. He was open to any follow-ups or future work I might want, but did not push unnecessary work by his firm.
This was an excellent outcome for a dreaded task. I recommend Studio Legale Metta for all expats in Italy or anyone who has dealings with the Italian legal system (inheritances, immigration, etc.), and will use them again if I have future legal questions.
