Qualified Italian lawyer (avvocato) in 1998, Maria Serena trained first in Italy and then in New York at the law offices of Farrel & Fritz Corp. and Home Federal Savings Bank. She specialized in European Community Law and Economy at the University of Bari and in Administrative Law, International Public and Private Law and Commercial and Civil Law. Maria Serena was admitted to try cases at the Corte di Cassazione, Italian Supreme Court, in 2011.

Maria Serena’s primary practice areas are administrative law and civil law focusing on civil legal disputes and litigations regarding both Italian and non-Italian clients.

Former legal consultant for the Italian Council of Ministers of the Sardinia Board (Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri per il Tavolo Sardegna), on behalf of Apulia Region she is currently taking care of debt collection cases involving public managers and officers responsible for administrative and accounting liability.

During her career, she was a speaker at conferences organized by the Bari Bar Association (Consiglio dell’Ordine degli Avvocati di Bari) on issues regarding the relationship between the European Union and European lawyers.

She is an active member of the Acts and Regulations Commission of the Bari Bar Association (Consiglio dell’Ordine degli Avvocati di Bari) and a board member of the Administrative Chamber of Bari (Camera Amministrativa Distrettuale).

Since 2010 she is a member of the “Committee for International Organizations”, (Commissione Organismi Internazionali) of the Bari Bar Association.

Maria Serena is currently finishing a Ph.D. in Public Administration of Economy and Finance, Faculty of Law at the Università degli Studi di Bari – Aldo Moro (University of Bari).
