Question: My mother left a US will stating that I am the beneficiary of her property in Italy. I would like to complete the formalities to inherit and sell it. How to inherit and sell an Italian property?
Answer: There are three main steps to consider:
1) Check the property is worth the effort: check title, actual conditions, value, pending debts etc.;
2) Do the inheritance succession;
3) After or during step 2, put the property on the market for sale.
All inheritance and sale Italian property activities can be completed remotely, by means of a Power of Attorney document, i.e., a document giving a representative you trust the authority to act on your behalf without the need for you to travel to Italy.
